While some materials such as denim and leather are never out of fashion, wool ebbs and flows from year to year. On the catwalks last year knitwear had taken a bit of a back seat, but the good news is that this winter, sweaters, jumpers & cardigans are going to be ubiquitous. The trends for autumn and winter 2013-14 include a collaboration between warmth and cosiness coupled with glamour. The fashion houses have gone overboard getting sweaters back into fashion; just look at the collections of Burberry, Pringle, or Vivienne Westwood.
An up coming trend in knitwear is as many garish glammed-up patterns, images and colours you can find, it’s all about saying this is wool and I want to shout it out loud! It may seem a bit odd parading knitwear during the warmer months but throw on an over sized boyfriend sweater for those cooler evenings out or team a knitted cape with leather skinny trousers a la Kick Ass actress Chloe Moretz, below. If neutral knits are what you’re after then French Connection (main pic) have some simple flattering shapes enhanced with zips, animals and shiny motifs.
